What should I know before submitting data to the community?
SiliconSlopes.com provides resources and a free database for technology companies, people, investors and organizations associated with Utah that anyone can add to or edit. Before submitting information, a visitor must be registered as a siliconslopes.com user. Please search the site before submitting information to ensure that the information you are submitting is not already in our database. Submissions will not go live until they are approved by the site administrator (usually within 24 hrs).
I just posted/added information to the site, why isn’t it live?
While SiliconSlopes.com follows somewhat of a “wiki”-type model, but submitted information must be approved by the site administrator before going live. This ensures the quality and relevance of data that is available to our users.
How is information on the site kept up to date?
The charge of maintaining fresh and relevant content on SiliconSlopes.com falls on the Silicon Slopes community. Administrators of SiliconSlopes.com are active participants in the community and will also update what it deems as “stale” or out of date content when such information is discovered or brought to our attention. Listings are complimentary! Silicon Slopes is designed to help and provide a free platform for the technology community it promotes.
Why do I need a different login to submit a job?
The Silicon Slopes Job Board is a third party solution that is much more robust than the solution we can currently offer on the current site. Our Job Board offers an applicant management system, job alerts and much more. In addition, jobs posted on the Utah Technology Councils’ Web site are also displayed on the Silicon Slopes Job Board.
How is Silicon Slopes funded?
Silicon Slopes is funded by Omniture and by community members who have joined Silicon Slopes as sponsors. These sponsorships allow SiliconSlopes.com to provide a free platform to the general community, fund day to day operations, marketing expenses, events, and Web site maintenance and improvements. Instructions for adding/posting information to SiliconSlopes.com
Overview:
To add or edit information on siliconslopes.com you must first be a registered user. Registration is free and simple—and yes—we promise not to inundate you with emails. Information that is added to the site should be written in the 3rd person and should avoid using “marketing language” that is too self-promoting. Only technology related information should be submitted. Please search the site before submitting information to ensure that the information you are submitting is not already in our database.
Adding: Companies, Service Providers, Investors, Organizations and Key People
Companies:
We only approve submitted companies that fall within the technology and life science industries. Fill out the company form to the best of your ability, making sure to look at all the tabs before clicking the save button. Once a company’s information has been approved you can then add or post information to the company profile such as deal flow, competitors, key people, news and much more.
Service Providers:
Silicon Slopes considers service providers those companies that support the technology and life science companies in Utah. Examples would include lawyers, accountants, marketing firms, recruiting agencies etc.
Investors:
The investor database is reserved for investors who have invested or are interested in investing in Utah companies.
Organizations:
Utah organizations associated with the technology and life science industries will be approved.
Key People:
Company management can be added to our key person database. Key persons can and should be associated with a company.
News, Press Releases, Events, Deal Flow, Jobs and Interviews
Information that is posted to the site appears on the Silicon Slopes homepage, respective company profile page, and other pages throughout the site. Information can be tied to a company profile by selecting the appropriate company when posting the information.
News:
Silicon Slopes considers news to be an external well-written article about a company or a compelling press release. To post news you must enter the title and link of the story. News titles should be kept short. News releases can be tied to a company’s profile.
Press Release:
Company press releases can be can be posted on the site. They appear on the homepage, Press Release page, and will appear on a company profile page the submitter chooses to associate the story with.
Deal Flow:
Fundings (venture capital, private equity etc.), mergers and acquisitions, and public offerings can be posted to SiliconSlopes.com. These deals appear on the Homepage, Deal Flow pages, and associated company profiles. Deals are reviewed by the MoutainWest Capital Network and then, once approved, go live on the site.
Events:
Events should be technology related. Events appear on the Homepage and Events page.
Interviews:
Enter external links and titles to any interviews of representatives of a company. Interviews will appear on the Homepage, Interviews Page, and will appear on the associated company profile page.
Jobs:
To post a job, a user must register with our 3rd party provider. This will allow a user the ability to post jobs and monitor applicants. Jobs can be pushed to other job boards such as indeed.com for free. Eventually these job listing will appear on a company’s profile page (under development).
Editing information
Information on SiliconSlopes.com can only be edited by registered users. Edited information will be moderated and approved before the changes appear live on the site. To edit information click on the edit tab that is present in the left hand corner, just below the main navigation.
