JOB DESCRIPTION
Support the company's vision for professional, decisive, and prompt situation management as well as effective, error-free change implementation. This position will be an escalation/coordination point for all mission critical and / or SLA impacting priority 1 incidents for the Data Center Network Operations team.
Supervise a group of network and server operations staff on evening shift to monitor and manage the open systems processing and network infrastructure. This position will provide guidance and oversight in change implementations on servers and in the network.
Monitor restoration progress of all priority 1 incidents across the enterprise; engage in restoration for any major client or business impacting service interruption in a 7/24/365 data center environment. Engage any internal or external resources needed to quickly restore service as it relates to managed infrastructure. Regularly interact with management, clients and others to constantly improve processes, procedures, and methods. Adhere to departmental policies/procedures. Generate requested or required reports for customers and management. Standards/procedures are to be enforced at all times.
Specific Requirements:
- Possess and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
- Demonstrate concise problem determination skills.
- Possess a true 'Sense of Urgency' to facilitate the quick resolution of problems.
- Effective Problem Resolution skills through the use of Deductive Reasoning?.
- Broad, in-depth knowledge and experience of mainframe, distributed systems and network technologies.
- Ability to effectively manage service restoration and support personnel simultaneously.
- Effective verbal and written communications with both technical and non-technical personnel is required.
- Ability to Drive' the processes to achieve incident resolution quickly and clearly.
- Desktop application (Windows/Office) literacy.
- Availability on a 24 x 7 basis via pager / cell phone.
- Work area environmental conditions may include a raised floor Data Center along with standard cubicle or office setup.
- May be requested to occasionally travel within the United States.
- Availability for on call duties on a rotating basis, (including weekends).
- Must be flexible enough to adapt, improvise, and overcome any issues preventing complete resolution.
- Ability to drive and monitor change in a dynamic environment with minimal or no errors.
