The Engineer I will be involved in NaSICON development and device production programs to perform tasks related to basic and applied research, fabrication, assembly, performance testing, prototype modeling and engineering, device scale up-engineering and testing validation for applications such as in low temperature aqueous electrochemical systems.
Candidate will assist design & assembly of test equipment, experiment monitoring, data collection/analysis, literature/patent searches, and comparative evaluation of published research data, data interpretation & reporting. This person will learn basic methods to plan and perform assembly of membrane-cell modules, chemical analysis by titration, perform testing, analysis, and evaluate failure modes. The candidate will perform modeling work with heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and energy balance. The employee will also be required to attend engineering meetings, project planning sessions and other activities necessary to perform an effective research program. The duties will not be routine tasks.
Education -Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering. Preference will be given to those with laboratory research experience, especially in the areas of chemical processes, test design, prototype evaluation, concept development chemical processing and synthesis, and materials characterization. Good communication, organizational, documentation, and computer skills are required. This position requires an individual that can work with minimal supervision and be able to work independently.
